This page is a chronological list of major historical events which happened in Thrael. Some of these are background lore which occurred before the launch of the game, and some were in-game plot events.
Age of Beginnings (AoB)
Description: The dawn of existence, where the gods and primal forces shaped Thrael, its realms, and its inhabitants.
Significance: The origins of the world, its divine pantheon, and the birth of life.
Transition Event: Creation is complete; the gods withdraw from direct involvement, allowing mortal civilizations to rise.
Age of Mystery (AoM)
Duration: An undefined stretch of time between the Age of Beginnings and the Age of Wonder.
Description: A period shrouded in uncertainty and myth, where only fragments of history remain. Early civilizations emerge, but much is lost to time.
Significance: An enigmatic era where primal magic reigned, and the foundations of later ages were laid.
Key Themes:
- Prehistoric empires and mythical events.
- The rise and fall of civilizations obscured by cataclysms.
- Artifacts and relics from this time are regarded as incomprehensibly powerful and rare.
Transition Event: The rise of structured civilizations and the rediscovery of magic and technology lead into the Age of Wonder.
Age of Wonder (AoW)
Description: An age of thriving civilization, technological and magical innovation, and grand empires.
Significance: The apex of creation, marked by vast achievements in magic, science, and architecture.
Transition Event: Ends with the final cataclysm of Roshanon, which devastates the world, reshaping its geography and civilizations.
Age of Chaos (AoC)
Duration: Follows the cataclysm, an indeterminate period of anarchy and destruction.
Description: Civilization falls into ruin. Knowledge is lost, and survivors fight for resources amidst widespread devastation.
Transition Event: Gradual emergence of structured societies and the rediscovery of knowledge.
Age of Awakening (AoA)
Duration: 1 AoA to 1000 AoA.
Description: Societies rebuild and rediscover knowledge from the Age of Wonder. Nations begin to form.
Significance: The foundation of the modern nations and empires seen today.
Transition Event: Widespread stabilization and the rise of centralized governments.
Age of Empires (AoE)
Duration: 1 AoE to 1500 AoE.
Description: Major empires expand, engaging in trade, exploration, and occasional warfare. We see the height of the Peregornean Empire, the Mordesian Empire, the Vashan Empire, and the Xullabecan Empire.
Significance: Cultural and technological advancements flourish.
Transition Event: Empires begin to fragment due to internal strife, external pressures, or modern philosophies.
Age of Dreams (AoD)
Duration: 1 AoD to Present.
Description: A renaissance of art, culture, and exploration, marking a new golden era for civilization.
Significance: Most empires evolve into independent states (Vashan, Mordesian) or singular nations (Xullabec). Peregorne is the last empire remaining on Thrael. Nations thrive, albeit amidst rising tensions and new threats.
- ca. 500-600: Lord Jikel becomes King of Kessia and establishes MacVahl dynasty.
- ???: Reign of King Erech I of Kessia
- ???: Reign of King Tybin III of Kessia, "the Scholar-Warrior"
- ???: Reign of Cedric I of Kessia
- 611: Prince Vek, heir to King Cedric II of Kessia, is born.
- 611-612: Wife of Cedric II disappears.
- 623, Reine: Cedric II falls ill. Lord Yurt, the Royal Steward, is appointed Regent.
- 623: Yurt begins selling portions of Kaezar to Vashan Empire.
- 623, Ghust 21: King Cedric II of Kessia killed.
- 623-624?: Vek retakes the Kessian throne from Yurt.
