This page is a chronological list of major historical events which happened in Thrael. Some of these are background lore which occurred before the launch of the game, and some were in-game plot events.
Age of Beginnings (AoB)
Description: The dawn of existence, where the gods and primal forces shaped Thrael, its realms, and its inhabitants.
Significance: The origins of the world, its divine pantheon, and the birth of life.
Transition Event: Creation is complete; the gods withdraw from direct involvement, allowing mortal civilizations to rise.
Age of Mystery (AoM)
Duration: An undefined stretch of time between the Age of Beginnings and the Age of Wonder.
Description: A period shrouded in uncertainty and myth, where only fragments of history remain. Early civilizations emerge, but much is lost to time.
Significance: An enigmatic era where primal magic reigned, and the foundations of later ages were laid.
Key Themes:
- Prehistoric empires and mythical events.
- The rise and fall of civilizations obscured by cataclysms.
- Artifacts and relics from this time are regarded as incomprehensibly powerful and rare.
Transition Event: The rise of structured civilizations and the rediscovery of magic and technology lead into the Age of Wonder.
Age of Wonder (AoW)
Description: An age of thriving civilization, technological and magical innovation, and grand empires.
Significance: The apex of creation, marked by vast achievements in magic, science, and architecture.
Transition Event: Ends with the final cataclysm of Roshanon, which devastates the world, reshaping its geography and civilizations.
Age of Chaos (AoC)
Duration: Follows the cataclysm, an indeterminate period of anarchy and destruction.
Description: Civilization falls into ruin. Knowledge is lost, and survivors fight for resources amidst widespread devastation.
Transition Event: Gradual emergence of structured societies and the rediscovery of knowledge.
Age of Awakening (AoA)
Duration: 1 AoA to 1000 AoA.
Description: Societies rebuild and rediscover knowledge from the Age of Wonder. Nations begin to form.
Significance: The foundation of the modern nations and empires seen today.
Transition Event: Widespread stabilization and the rise of centralized governments.
Age of Empires (AoE)
Duration: 1 AoE to 1500 AoE.
Description: Major empires expand, engaging in trade, exploration, and occasional warfare. We see the height of the Peregornean Empire, the Mordesian Empire, the Vashan Empire, and the Xullabecan Empire.
Significance: Cultural and technological advancements flourish.
Transition Event: Empires begin to fragment due to internal strife, external pressures, or modern philosophies.
Age of Dreams (AoD)
Duration: 1 AoD to Present.
Description: A renaissance of art, culture, and exploration, marking a new golden era for civilization.
Significance: Most empires evolve into independent states (Vashan, Mordesian) or singular nations (Xullabec). Peregorne is the last empire remaining on Thrael. Nations thrive, albeit amidst rising tensions and new threats.
- ca. 500-600: Lord Jikel becomes King of Kessia and establishes MacVahl dynasty.

- 611: Prince Vek, heir to King Cedric II of Kessia, is born.
- 611-612: Wife of Cedric II disappears.
- 623, Reine: Cedric II falls ill. Lord Yurt, the Royal Steward, is appointed Regent.
- 623: Yurt begins selling portions of Kaezar to Vashan Empire.
- 623, Ghust 21: King Cedric II of Kessia killed.
- 623-624?: Vek retakes the Kessian throne from Yurt.
- 654: The Orcish Resurgence: A mysterious new Talone arises in Laurdia, reuniting the orcish clans into a formidable Horde. Orc sightings increase then reduce rapidly across Northwestern Thrael as they migrate to northern Laurdia.
- 654: Bijapur's Independence: Bijapur organizes an efficient revolt against the Vashan Empire, breaking free from Vashan control. This sparks a cultural renaissance, with Bijapur’s exotic exports becoming highly sought after worldwide. Other nations under Vashan control take note as Vash attempts to reassert control.
- 654: Bijapur-Wessumbria Trade Agreement: Seeking mutual benefits, Wessumbria establishes a lucrative trade agreement with Bijapur, importing their renowned silks and spices to enhance its growing influence in Thrael.
- 655: The Horde Invades: Orcish forces unexpectedly invade Nellwyn directly, sacking and razing the capital, Noogee, where Queen Victaea Ryerre perishes without a named heir. The Horde pushes into Baetana. Wessumbria comes to the defense of Nellwyn far too late, but stops the Horde in their tracks in Baetana, holding the line until reinforcements arrive.
- 655: The Laurdian Defense: The combined forces of Wessumbria, Malakvia, Kessia, and Durbra’thrum repel the Horde back to the Laurdian Front, forcing their retreat.
- 655: Sylvani Enclave Mediation: The Sylvani Enclave offers neutral ground in the Syl'Wydde for post-battle negotiations, proposing a pact among allies to prevent further orcish advances. While Wessumbria and Malakvia agree in principle, Kessia expresses reservations about Sylvani influence over human realms.
- 657: Imperial Marriage: King Vek MacVahl of Kessia marries Amelianne, daughter of Emperor Anthemian the Just of Peregorne, positioning Vek as the Imperial heir.
- 657: Wessumbria annexes Nellwyn through occupation and its lack of leadership, and subsequently Baetana via the marriage of King Ualraig MacMihail to Queen Dussona Griadaur.
- 657: Malakvian-Wessumbrian relations sour, with Malakvia accusing Wessumbria of imperial overreach and preparing defensive measures near their shared border.
- 657: Bijapur-Kessia Relations: Bijapur dispatches envoys to Kessia to establish a cultural exchange, hoping to promote trade and gain a foothold in the Imperial court.
- 658: Imperial Succession: Emperor Anthemian the Just passes away due to natural causes. King Vek ascends as Emperor of Peregorne, bestowed with the cognomen “the Fair”, and the Kessian throne passes to Lord Corvin MacVahl.
- 658: Strengthening the Front: Durbra’thrum fortifies its alliance with Wessumbria, bolstering the Laurdian Front.
- 658: Tensions Rise in Indrejan: Bijapur’s newfound independence disrupts traditional trade routes. Indrejan merchants petition their rulers to secure dominance in the Sea of Tamin, escalating naval skirmishes with Bijapur's fleet.
- 659: Cultural Advances: The Sylvani Enclave hosts the Council of Eg’nadis, focusing on defense against external threats and natural resource preservation.
- 659: Trade Growth: Bijapur expands maritime trade through the pirate kingdom of the Sajoi Islands, fostering economic prosperity, but straining relations with mainland powers over trade morality.
- 659: Malakvia-Indrejan Accord: Malakvia and Indrejan agree to a mutual defense pact, ensuring Indrejani aid should Wessumbria’s territorial ambitions extend further east.
- 660: Renewed Trouble in Laurdia: Talonish forces regroup, engaging in skirmishes with Wessumbrian and Indurbran troops along the Laurdian Front, which now stretches along the entire Peregornean border and the southern quarter of Kuthgardian border. Kuthgard allies itself with Inosmerti mercenaries to fortify their collective border with Laurdia.
- 660: Rising Cultist Threats: Kessian forces confront a new cultist fanaticism, testing Peregornean control over the Empire. Little is currently known about the cult or their goals, other than it seems to serve Trost.
- 660: Vashan Empire Disintegrates: After decades of strife, and following the example of Bijapur, the Vashan Empire is completely overthrown, and all remaining countries within (Dhansang, The Kamalo Isles, Khanchanburi, Nagosan, Tanshu) become independent. Brief chaos ensues initially, but ultimately becomes an economic boom for the entire region as the previous isolationist policies are discarded in favor of trade. Goods previously only known as exotic begin to flood the mainland and become much more accessible, disrupting the entire market This leaves the Kivian Imperium as the final remaining known true Empire on Thrael.
