Writing

Before you begin to write, there are a few things you need to purchase.  Ink, and a quill are a must, with the third being something to write or paint on, such as parchment, a journal or a diary.  Once you have procured those items from the local Scribners or Art Store, you are ready to begin your career as a person of letters.

You <open> the ink to uncork it, <dip> writing instrument in ink and then you

<write> parchment with my quill or <write> diary with my quill.

All parchments and journals allow a certain number of characters per page:

- Sheets of parchment, vellum, or paper: 1,000 characters over 100 lines

- Benjiro's Scrolls: 1,600 characters over 80 lines. (Koje)

- Books:  Vary by style, with most being 2,000 character over 100 lines per page

<*delete line> - Delete a specified line.

<*insert line> - Insert a line before a specified line.

<*line line> - Jump to the specified line.

<*quit> - Exit the writer without saving.

<*save> - Exit the writer and save.

It also keeps a running total of how many characters and lines you have and how many you have left to use.

To view your genius, you <read> <item>.

Sealing Wax and Signet Rings

To use sealing wax, you first <fold> or <roll> your document.  You then need to <light> your sealing wax with either the beginning Via Flam cantrip (vf01) or a match.

- Example:  'light wax with match'

After the wax is lit, hold it in hand and <seal parchment with wax>.  

To add an impression with a signet ring, you <press ring to parchment>.

To open a sealed parchment, you simply <unfold> or <unroll> the message.

Painting

As with writing, you must purchase a few items.  Brushes are available indifferent sizes, but it really does not matter what size you pick, as it also does not matter what color paint or paints you select.  Next, you must secure either a canvas or a panel from the local art shop.

You <open> <paint>, <dip brush in paint>, then <paint> on canvas with my brush.

All canvases allow a certain number of characters per page:

- Large Canvas/Panel: 3,000 characters over 100 lines.

- Medium Canvas/Panel: 2,000 characters over 60 lines.

- Small Canvas/Panel: 1,000 characters over 50 lines.

As with writing, type <*help>  to access the system.  Voila!  You are anartiste!  A legend before your own time.  To view your great achievement, <read> <canvas>.

Koje Specific

For Vashan calligraphy, the suzuri, ink sticks, and ink stones work the same as the Kivian inkpots, and brushes are used in place of quills.
