Terms of Service

Unwritten Legends (“UL”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is a community-driven, non-commercial online game. By accessing or using UL and its associated services, you (“User”) agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using UL services, you agree to adhere to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please refrain from using our services.

2. Account Registration

  • Accurate Information: Users must provide a valid email address during registration. This information is used for account verification and communication purposes.
  • Account Security: Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials. Any unauthorized use of your account should be reported immediately.
  • Single Account Policy: Users are generally expected to maintain a single account. Creating multiple accounts without explicit permission may result in account suspension.

3. Code of Conduct

To maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging community, all players and forum members must adhere to the following behavioral standards:

3.1. Be Kind & Respectful

  • Treat all members of the community—including players, moderators, and staff—with courtesy and respect.
  • Harassment, excessive negativity, personal attacks, or inflammatory behavior will not be tolerated.

3.2. Privacy Protection (NO DOXXING)

  • UL maintains an expectation of privacy for all players and staff. You may not “out” or “dox” any players or staff, including their real-world or in-game identities, whether real or fictional.
  • No tolerance policy: Violations of this rule will result in immediate removal from the community.

3.3. No Trolling, Rudeness, or Disruptive Behavior

  • Do not engage in trolling, battle-baiting, personal attacks, or toxic behavior.
  • Instigating fights, harassing individuals, or derailing discussions with hostility is not tolerated.
  • UL staff have limited time and resources; players who repeatedly engage in disruptive behavior may face suspension or removal.

3.4. No Hate Speech or Discriminatory Activity

  • Unwritten Legends is an inclusive and safe community.
  • Hate speech, slurs, discrimination, or attacks based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, or similar traits are strictly prohibited.
  • This is a zero-tolerance policy. Violators will be permanently removed from the community.

3.5. No NSFW or Inappropriate Content

  • UL does not verify player ages, so public forums (e.g., subreddit, wiki, Discord) must remain safe for all browsing environments.
  • Do not post NSFW, excessively violent, or otherwise inappropriate content.
  • Sexually explicit roleplay (ERP) is not permitted within the game environment.
    • Minors may be present in the game, again, UL does not verify player ages.
    • Staff actively observe in-game interactions to award roleplay and do not consent to being subjected to explicit sexual content.
    • Violations may result in account suspension or removal.

3.6. No Discussion of Divisive Topics

  • Discussions on politics, religion, or other controversial real-world issues are not allowed, unless they are directly relevant to in-game content (e.g., defining fictional UL lore).
  • UL is a gaming community, not a platform for real-world political or ideological debates.

3.7. Ban Policy

  • If you are banned, it is permanent. There will be no appeals for severe violations, especially those related to doxxing, hate speech, or harassment.
  • Less severe infractions may result in temporary suspensions at the discretion of UL staff.

4. User-Generated Content

  • Responsibility: Users are solely responsible for any content they create or share within UL platforms, including forums, wikis, and in-game communications.
  • Rights Granted: By submitting content to UL (including game suggestions, forum posts, character stories, or other in-game contributions), you grant UL a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and modify that content solely within the UL ecosystem (including the game, forums, wiki, and community discussions).
  • Retention of Rights: This license does not transfer ownership of your content to UL, and you retain full rights to use your content outside of UL. If you ever wish to remove content, you may request its deletion where applicable.

5. Service Availability

  • No Guarantees: UL is a volunteer-driven project, and as such, we do not guarantee continuous or error-free operation of our services.
  • Modifications: We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of UL at any time without prior notice.

6. Account Suspension and Termination

  • Grounds for Suspension: Violation of these terms or any in-game rules may result in account suspension or termination.
  • No Account Deletion: While accounts are not deleted, they may be locked or suspended indefinitely based on violations or inactivity.
  • Appeals: Users may appeal suspensions by contacting UL staff through designated channels. However, we reserve the right to make final decisions on all account-related matters.

7. Third-Party Platforms

UL engages with various third-party platforms to enhance community interaction:

  • Discord: We host a Discord server for community discussions. Please note that Discord operates under its own terms and privacy policies. We do not control or assume responsibility for their practices.
  • Reddit: Our subreddit (r/UnwrittenLegends) is available for community engagement. Reddit’s terms and privacy policies apply when using their platform.
  • Forums and Wiki: UL provides official forums and a wiki for player collaboration. Content shared here is publicly accessible, and users are responsible for the information they post.

8. Limitation of Liability

UL is provided “as-is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use our services, including, but not limited to, data loss, account issues, or service interruptions.

9. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms of Service periodically. Significant changes will be communicated through official channels. Continued use of UL services after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
