Phase II of World Dynamics

This is a significant change and comes with overhauls to several different systems.
  • Time/Timezones: Time zones will vary based upon where you are in the world, now, according to the grid on the world map. Kaezar [5i] and its surrounding area are at a 0 offset from server time (effectively Eastern time). Durbra'Thrum [5h] is an hour earlier, and Koje [7k] is two hours later. Ships crossing time zones will progress from the departure time zone to the destination time zone at the halfway point of the trip.
  • Sky: The sky box has been updated to follow time zones as well.
  • Stars: There is a brand new procedurally-generated star map including hue and magnitude. This will now be visible via the astrolabes. The star map coordinates will change based upon the time of night, your position in the world (both right ascension [effectively time zone] and declination), and the direction the astrolabe is pointed.
  • Stellar Objects: The moons (and their phases) and sun will be visible traversing arcs via the astrolabe now.
This new system impacts all of the following components of the game engine, and so therefore one should be wary of potential bugs in these systems despite thorough testing:
  • Astrolabes
  • Ships
  • Weather
  • Sky
  • Rooms (to include private spaces such as groves and dimensional pockets and inn rooms)
  • Stellar Bodies (Moons, Sun, Stars)
  • Time / Time Daemon
This paves the way into Phase III of World Dynamics, which will allow for:
  • Time changes influenced by axial tilt. (Dynamic sunrise/sunset times.)
  • Season/Weather changes influenced by axial tilt/latitude.
  • New stellar objects including constellations, comets and other anomalies.
  • The forthcoming Lunarist profession [TBA].
These changes are intended to create greater immersion and flexibility in roleplay opportunities. We hope you enjoy them.

It should be noted that positions of the moons in the sky box and the astrolabe currently will not line up - this is not a bug, they're just on different systems of display and will be merged in a future release.
