Organizational System Update

📜 Organizational System Update

Hello everyone,

As part of our continued efforts to modernize and stabilize Unwritten Legends, we wanted to share an important update regarding the player organization system.

🚫 Retirement of the Mechanical Org System

We are officially retiring the current mechanical organization system. This includes disbanding legacy organizations such as noble houses, orders, and societies that rely on in-game ranks, permissions, or structure.

The reason for this is simple: the existing system has become increasingly difficult to maintain over time, especially when org leaders or key members leave the game. Without tools to easily manage leadership transitions or access controls, it becomes fragile, inconsistent, and frustrating for both players and staff.

🧭 What This Means for You

This doesn’t mean the stories, identities, or histories of your characters' organizations are being erased. Quite the opposite!

We fully encourage you to continue portraying organizations organically—through roleplay, relationships, and shared purpose, rather than mechanics. Groups like noble families, medical societies, merchant guilds, and religious orders can all continue to exist in-character, just without a hardcoded structure behind them.

To help facilitate this, we’ll be reviewing and, where appropriate, opening up previously restricted organization buildings to the public so they can be used as RP spaces for anyone who wishes to engage with those themes.

🛠️ A Better System Will Come

We do plan to replace the mechanical org system in the future with something more:
  • Flexible and player-driven
  • Easier to maintain
  • Supportive of both casual and dedicated groups
  • Integrated into faction/reputation/guild systems
When we’re ready to roll that out, we’ll involve the community in shaping it so it fits a wide variety of playstyles.

In the meantime, if you have a character with a strong organizational background (like a former knight, guild leader, or noble), you’re welcome to keep those elements in your RP. Just know that there’s no longer a formal hierarchy or mechanics behind them—for now, your story is the structure.

Thanks for your understanding, flexibility, and all the incredible RP you bring to the world of Thrael.
Sir Martaigne, Knight of the Crown, Champion of Thine, Favored of Fair Hearts.
Endyce, Administrator of Chaos, Hobo Coder, Shatterer of Dreams.
Two sides of the same coin — slightly tarnished and worse for wear, but still valid currency.
